Federal Minister of Health and the Qatari Ambassador inaugurate the arrival of a sea bridge for life-saving medicines

The Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, accompanied by the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan, H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Sada, and in the presence of the Director of the General Department of Distribution at the National Medical Supplies Fund, Dr. Inam Abdullah Dablouk, and Dr. Abu Bakr Saluh, inaugurated the arrival of the first batch of the Qatari medical grant provided by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent.

The Federal Minister of Health expressed his deep thanks to the Government and people of the State of Qatar, to the Qatar Fund for Development, and the Qatar Red Crescent, stressing that this generous support represents a lifeline for the Sudanese health system in light of the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through.

The minister stressed that the current shipment comes within a continuous sea and air bridge since the beginning of the crisis in Sudan and aims to provide urgent needs for life-saving medicines, intravenous solutions, emergency medicines, and treatments for chronic diseases, in addition to supplies to combat epidemics such as malaria and fever.

Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sada explained that this shipment, which started with 70 refrigerated trucks, is the beginning of a huge grant that is set to exceed 1,000 tons of medicines and medical consumables. For its part, the Qatar Red Crescent announced that the total number of refrigerated trucks allocated to transport this grant will reach about 140 trucks, which will be completed during the current month.

The Director of Prince Osman Diqna, Captain Taha Ahmed Mokhtar, pledged to provide all customs and logistical facilities and to speed up administrative procedures to ensure the exit of shipments from the port without delay, to the headquarters of the National Medical Supplies Fund in Khartoum.
