Britain calls for accountability for perpetrators of El Fasher atrocities and a halt to arms flow

The United Kingdom has called for urgent international action to hold accountable those responsible for the grave violations committed in El Fasher, following the report of the UN Commission of Inquiry, which documented crimes including starvation, murder, torture, sexual violence, and ethnic targeting during the siege of the city.

London stressed the need to end the blockade immediately and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, in addition to intensifying international pressure to achieve a ceasefire. It also emphasized the importance of expanding the arms embargo and investigating related violations to ensure that weapons do not continue to flow to the parties to the conflict.

The United Kingdom announced sanctions against several leaders of the Rapid Support Forces accused of committing atrocities in El Fasher, in accordance with the Security Council resolution, stressing that these crimes should not go unpunished.

The British government called on the international community to listen to the voices of civilians, especially women affected by the conflict, and to work towards achieving justice, accountability, and peace in Sudan.
