Sincere Call to all humanitarian agencies to contribute in making the Initiative to Support IDPs in Al-Dabba Camp a success

Amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the displaced persons camp in the Al-Dabba area remains a symbol of the suffering and challenges faced by thousands of displaced people.
However, this also presents an opportunity to leverage local expertise to support these displaced individuals and help them achieve self-sufficiency.

Since the camp’s establishment, I, the undersigned, launched an initiative to support displaced people, depending on their experience in agriculture and livestock breeding, considering that most of the displaced people in Al-Dabba are from Darfur, where livestock breeding and farming (known locally as “jabraka”) are integral parts of their daily lives.

The initiative proposes allocating plots of land to each group of families for cultivating vegetables and grains, along with providing seeds and agricultural guidance. It also proposes providing improved sheep breeds for dairy production and raising livestock. This step aims to provide work and food for the displaced, rather than relying on temporary aid.

Unfortunately, this initiative has not received any response from officials, despite its importance in supporting the displaced and achieving self-sufficiency.

This is a sincere call to all concerned local, regional and international organizations to provide all possible support to make this humanitarian initiative a success.
