According to the Child Law of 2010, the death sentence for the rapist of a child

On today, 23/2/2026, at the General Court of Sinja, headed by General Court Judge Sanja Maulana and Abdullatif Adam Mohamed Ali, the case of the rapist of a 7-year-old girl from the village of Mina was sentenced. The court sentenced the accused to death by hanging in order to condemn the violation of Articles 45/B and 86/G of the Child Law of 2010, as well as 40 lashes and 20 lashes in furtherance of the violation of Article 78 of the Criminal Code of 1991.
A complaint was opened with the Family and Child Protection Unit in Sinja, and the report was filed. The accused was brought to trial, and then the death sentence was issued. The court justified its harsher punishment by stating that the law has established deterrent penalties that were enacted to protect children and address the prevalence of sexual abuse of children, and that the accused has a history of sexual crimes.
The victim’s family received the verdict with great joy, as the perpetrator received a deterrent punishment and the victim was given justice by being sentenced to death. The verdict was issued in the presence of the attorney and the victim’s relatives, as well as the defense lawyer who challenged it, alongside the representative of the Child Welfare Council, Singa Najla Mustafa.
