A Workshop on the Preparation and Approval of Training Packages on Climate Change Launches

The National Training Package on Climate Change and Health Risks for Community Health Workers, launched today, was organized by the Federal Health Promotion Department with the support of the World Bank (SHARE Project) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a press statement after the opening session, the Acting Director of the Health Promotion Department, Tawad Abdullah Al-Khader, said that the workshop aims to prepare and approve a training package on climate change to train health promoters, enabling them to deliver health messages and reach a conscious society that contributes to reporting diseases, combating malnutrition, and more, with the participation of emergency departments, environmental health, disease vector control, and planning.

For her part, Mona Idris from the World Health Organization stressed that climate change has a significant impact on the environment and public health. Therefore, the workshop aimed to align the training packages for the targeted community health workers and health promoters regarding the effects of climate change and how to deal with it, as well as the referral of patients in their remote areas.

She added that one of the activity packages supported by the World Bank (the SHARE project) for Sudan leads to supporting communities in several aspects, thus helping the health system, especially as a result of the war.
