The Sudanese Orthopedic Surgeons Association (SOSA) announced the convening of its 12th International Conference.
This significant event comes after a forced hiatus imposed by the country’s current circumstances and the war, marking a turning point and a strong start to the comprehensive resumption of the association’s activities.
Dr. Mohamed Kamal Ali Saleh, Consultant Orthopedic and Spinal Surgeon and Secretary-General of the Association, revealed that the conference will be held in Port Sudan on January 23 and 24, 2026, at the Al-Rabwa Hall.
Dr. Mohamed Kamal emphasized that the conference is not merely a resumption of an annual event, but rather a declaration of the return of the scientific and professional activities of the association, which has been holding it since its founding.
The Secretary-General of the Association stated that this year’s conference is of exceptional importance due to its central focus on war injuries. It will feature the presentation of specialized international scientific papers in this vital field, reflecting a direct response to the urgent medical needs in the country.
He noted that the conference will be preceded by specialized workshops held on January 21st and 22nd in Port Sudan to enhance the practical skills of surgeons.
The Secretary-General praised the generous sponsorship of the conference by leading companies in the medical field, which supported the success of this scientific gathering under these challenging circumstances. He also acknowledged the significant support from the State Ministry of Health, which Dr. Mohamed Kamal considered a key factor in enabling the conference to take place.
He added that this achievement is the result of the efforts of a select group of active and enthusiastic young orthopedic surgeons who demonstrated a firm belief in the necessity of continuing the Association’s scientific activities. Dr. Mohamed Kamal concluded by expressing his hope that the conference will be a success and a strong and promising start to the Association’s regular annual activities.
