NSWF celebrates the arrival of new students at the University of Khartoum

In a joyous atmosphere graced by the presence of university students from Khartoum, the National Students Welfare Fund (NSWF) in Khartoum State celebrated the arrival of new students at the University of Khartoum, the “Batch of Challenge and Resilience,” hosted by the Faculty of Education at the University of Khartoum, at the Al-Khansaa Dormitory in Omdurman on Tuesday.
This inauguration is considered a step in supporting the advancement of university education in the country and a strong incentive for other universities to return to Khartoum and resume their academic activities in the state.
Dr. Ahmed Hamza Al-Amin, Secretary-General of the National Students Welfare Fund, said, “We are delighted to see the University of Khartoum students at this joyous event and to welcome the new batch of students, the ‘Batch of Challenge and Resilience,’ at the University of Khartoum. He emphasized that the Fund stands shoulder to shoulder with students and university education.”
During a ceremony held by the National Student Welfare Fund – Khartoum State Secretariat to inaugurate the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan dormitory and the Al-Khansaa dormitory at the Martyr Mohammed Abdullah Khalaf Allah Complex in Omdurman, Hamza added, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Acting Minister Al-Tayeb Saad Al-Din, representing the Governor of Khartoum, the Deputy Executive Director of Omdurman Locality, Yasser Omar Hashim, the Secretary of the Fund in Khartoum State, Professor Mohammed Ahmed Kaltous, and the representative of the Director of the University of Khartoum, Professor Faisal Mohammed, Dean of the Faculty of Education,
He said that the students represent the protectors of the nation and the leaders of the future, saying: “Be strong, protect the homeland, and adhere to the religion of Islam.”
Hamza affirmed that Sudan is in safe hands, pledging to work with all Sudanese states for education and the reconstruction of what the war destroyed.
For his part, Al-Tayeb Saad El-Din, Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism for Khartoum State, representing the Governor, affirmed that the state government is committed to ensuring the stability of the academic year at the state’s universities.
Al-Tayeb stated that the state will dedicate all its resources to stabilizing university education in the country, noting that they face a great responsibility and a significant challenge in creating an environment conducive to the return of citizens to their homes.
Al-Tayeb called on the administrations of universities operating from other states to return to Khartoum and resume their activities, saying, “There is no alternative to Khartoum.”
Al-Tayeb praised the NSWF for its strong support during the war, pointing out that the Fund was among the first institutions to resume its activities despite limited resources and the difficult circumstances of war. He added that the state government implemented numerous programs through the Fund’s institutions.
Al-Tayeb urged male and female students to maintain their dormitories and focus on their academic studies.
Al-Tayeb also announced to the citizens the restoration of water services in the state, indicating that work is underway to resolve the electricity problem.
Al-Tayeb stressed the necessity of working together to make the return of the state possible.
Professor Faisal Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Khartoum and representative of the University Director, said, “We are pleased that the Faculty of Education is welcoming the new University of Khartoum students and enabling them to begin their studies in person.” He added, “Without the Fund, the university would not have opened its doors.”
He affirmed that the university is working diligently to rebuild its institutions in the state despite limited resources, thanking the Khartoum State government and the Fund for their significant efforts in creating a conducive environment for the students.
Faisal described the new students as a generation of challenge upon whom the future depends, and who will play a crucial role in building the new Sudan.
The opening of the city was accompanied by a grand cultural evening to welcome the new students.
