Minnawi: Lifting the Siege of Dilling is a Victory for Humanity Before the Land

The Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minnawi, affirmed that the siege of civilians, the denial of water and food to them, and the targeting of them with lethal weapons constitute one of the most serious violations of human conduct and international law in the history of humanity. He stressed that these practices are morally and humanly reprehensible and cannot be justified under any pretext.

Minnawi congratulated the residents of Dilling on the lifting of the unjust siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, following a period of severe humanitarian suffering and heroic resistance that embodied the will to live and maintain dignity. He considered this a pivotal moment in the protection of civilians and the restoration of hope in conflict-affected areas.

The Governor of Darfur expressed his pride and admiration for the Sudanese Armed Forces, the Joint Forces, and the supporting regular forces, who stood firm and valiant in defense of civilians and the protection of lives, and pressed forward in the battle for dignity until this great national achievement was realized. He emphasized that these sacrifices reflect the depth of the national commitment to protecting the people and preserving the sovereignty of the state.

Minnawi pointed out that breaking the siege of Dilling is not only a victory for the land, but first and foremost a victory for humanity. It sends a clear message that policies of siege and starvation will not break the will of the Sudanese people, and that justice will be served for all those who committed crimes against innocent civilians.

This stance comes amidst escalating national and international calls to strengthen the protection of civilians and hold those involved in violations accountable, in parallel with the continuation of military operations aimed at securing areas and the gradual return of stability to several fronts.
