Minister of Minerals: Sudan Opens Partnership with World Bank to Finance Infrastructure and Develop Critical Minerals

Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daem Taha, stated that Sudan discussed with the World Bank Group opportunities to finance strategic infrastructure projects, along with programs to support local communities, training, and capacity building. This comes within the framework of a government initiative to promote sustainable development and stimulate economic growth.

In a press statement today (Thursday), the Minister explained that the discussions held with Valerie Levkova, Vice President of the World Bank Group for Infrastructure, on the sidelines of the Fifth International Mining Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, addressed the significant potential Sudan possesses in the field of industrial and critical minerals, and the promising opportunities they offer for investment and building value-added chains.

Nour Al-Daem Taha emphasized the important role the World Bank can play in supporting the minerals sector by employing modern technologies, particularly in the areas of digital exploration and production, connecting Sudan to global innovation hubs, and strengthening partnerships with international institutions and the private sector.

The minister noted that both sides agreed to coordinate efforts to hold an expanded meeting in the coming period to discuss the proposed projects in detail and to develop a clear roadmap to bring them into effect.
