EU Announces a Positive Stance Towards Sudan

The European Union affirmed its commitment to the unity of Sudan and its categorical rejection of any attempts to form a parallel government, reiterating its support for the political process as the only way to end the war and protect civilians.

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Sudan, Ambassador Wolfram Vetter, stated in a post on the “X” platform that he participated, alongside the EU Special Representative Annette Weber, in the fifth round of the Consultative Mechanism concerning peace efforts in Sudan.

Vetter explained that the European Union emphasized during the meeting the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce and a comprehensive ceasefire, as these are essential prerequisites for protecting civilians and creating a conducive environment for launching a serious political process leading to stability.

He added that the European Union continues to support the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, stressing that any political arrangements outside this framework are unacceptable and do not serve efforts to end the conflict or achieve sustainable peace.
