A Preemptive Strike Reduces Rapid Support Forces’ Influence in South Kordofan

The Sudanese Armed Forces carried out a preemptive military operation in South Kordofan State, targeting armed movements preparing for a large-scale attack. The operation resulted in the destruction of two main convoys and inflicted heavy losses on the targeted forces.

Field sources reported that the operation was conducted in the Lagawa and Jangaro areas, targeting elements affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces militia and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) faction led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu. The sources indicated that the operation was launched to thwart an imminent plan targeting the strategically important city of Dilling.

According to the sources, the targeted forces suffered significant casualties, including deaths and injuries, in addition to the destruction of dozens of combat vehicles and armored personnel carriers. Heavy weapons intended for use in the anticipated attack were also disabled or seized.

The sources confirmed that the Armed Forces also succeeded in destroying an air defense system in the Jangaro area. They described the operation as a significant blow, as it directly reduces the adversaries’ ability to secure their movements and counter air superiority.

Limited sources circulated videos showing the aftermath of the strike, including destroyed vehicles and completely neutralized sites, reinforcing indications of the government forces’ control on the ground and their advance in the region.

The operation is seen as a significant development in South Kordofan, one that will bolster security around the city of Dilling and undermine the ability of armed groups to carry out future attacks, amidst the rapidly evolving military landscape in Sudan.
