With International Standards: Construction of the New Khartoum Airport Completed

Construction of the new Khartoum airport has been completed, including the building of arrival and departure terminals according to the latest international specifications. The new airport meets all international standards and all approved requirements in the civil aviation sector, and is located on the site of the old airport.

The Khartoum Airport Rehabilitation Committee announced in a press statement that the airport is ready to operate at any moment to receive citizens returning to the country. The committee noted that the work teams were able to complete the project despite the significant challenges and high costs associated with the aviation sector.

Major General Mubarak Othman Bashir, the rehabilitation project manager, stated that the new terminals were designed to meet international standards in terms of capacity and services, thus enhancing Sudan’s ability to accommodate international and regional travel.

The completion of the airport project is a strategic step towards reconnecting Sudan with the outside world, given the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing. The airport represents a main gateway for the return of citizens and the flow of humanitarian aid, in addition to being a fundamental pillar for supporting economic and commercial activity.
