Sudan Participates in the 116th Session of the Council of the IOM in Geneva

The Sudanese delegation to the 116th session of the Council of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) was headed by Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa, Minister of the Interior. The delegation also participated in the African Ministerial Roundtable held alongside the session. The delegation included Major General Abdel Mahmoud Al-Awad Ali, Director General of the Passports and Immigration Department, and Nizar Al-Tijani Ahmed, Commissioner for Refugees. The session is scheduled to take place from December 6 to 10. The Minister was received at Geneva International Airport by Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sudan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, and several members of the Sudanese Permanent Mission.

During the conference, the Minister will hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts, the heads of delegations, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of migration and human mobility, exchange expertise, and coordinate regional and international efforts to serve common interestsand strengthen Sudan’s active role within the IOM.
