Sudan and Pakistan strengthen strategic partnership in medicine and food security

The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker Syed Ahmed, concluded his official visit to Pakistan with important meetings with the giant Fauji Corporation, stressing the launch of a new phase of strategic cooperation between the two countries. The Undersecretary, accompanied by the Ambassador of Sudan to Pakistan, Saleh Mohammed Ahmed, Counselor Ihab Abdul Raziq, Deputy Ambassador, Dr. Haider Abdul Nabi, Director of the General Directorate of Therapeutic Medicine, and Dr. Mohammed Marwan Awad, Director of the Executive Office of the Federal Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Military Attaché at the Embassy of Sudan in Pakistan, held an extensive meeting with the President of the Fauji Foundation and a number of leaders of the Pakistani Foundation.

The talks focused on strengthening partnership in vital fields, most notably pharmaceutical manufacturing and medical technology.

The two sides agreed on immediate executive steps to translate cooperation into reality: They agreed to capitalize on Fauji’s significant investments in the pharmaceutical and food security sectors.

Activating the Memorandum of Understanding: The previously signed Memorandum of Understanding was discussed, and it was agreed that its provisions would be put into practice immediately.

It was agreed to establish a joint executive team that will begin its work immediately to ensure the implementation of the terms of the MoU.

The agenda of the meeting extended to include cooperation in the field of medical tourism and benefiting from the expertise of the Fuji Foundation. The Sudanese delegation visited a number of hospitals affiliated with the Foundation to learn about the capabilities and modern technologies in the field of treatment.

At the end of the visit, the two sides agreed to organize visits of close delegations between Pakistan and Sudan to follow up.
