Sudan and Japan Plan to Rebuild Destroyed Hospitals

A meeting was held between the Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed, and the President of Matsuda International and Koniki Construction, through zoom meeting , with the participation of the Ambassador of Sudan to Japan, H.E. Ambassador Al-Rih Haidob, and in the presence of a number of leaders from the Ministry.

During the meeting, they reviewed the activities related to the health sector in Sudan, which has been extensively devastated as a result of the attacks by the Rapid Support Militias. Two tracks were put forward to strengthen the health system: the first aims to reconstruct the sector through urgent emergency programs that include the provision of integrated mobile clinics to facilitate patients’ access to health services, especially during periods of epidemics such as cholera, while the second focuses on the rehabilitation of partially or completely damaged hospitals, especially Ibn Sina Hospital, with the support of the Japanese government. It seeks to promote sustainable development in Sudan.

The participants praised the discussions that took place for their role in the stability of health services, and at the end of the meeting, it was agreed to hold a subsequent meeting between the two sides to develop a practical plan for its implementation.
