Partnership to Enhance Medical Services and Develop the Pharmaceutical Industry Between Sudan and India

The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed Ahmed Mohamed, met with the Indian Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Gurja Shankar Joshi, in the presence of the Consul of the Indian Embassy in Sudan, Mr. Verma, along with Dr. Emad El-Din Abdel Moneim, Director of the Federal Hospitals Department, and Dr. Mohamed Marwan, Director of the Executive Office of the Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health. The meeting addressed ways to enhance health cooperation between the Federal Ministry of Health and the Indian government. The Undersecretary expressed his appreciation for the support provided by India during the past period, especially during the war, which helped maintain health services in several states. The two sides also discussed developing the pharmaceutical industry in Sudan by leveraging India’s extensive experience in this field, in addition to available investment opportunities. The meeting also addressed the topic of medical tourism, commending the Indian government’s initiative, through its embassy in Sudan, to organize a prosthetic limb camp in the Northern State. This camp will contribute to the treatment of those wounded in the Battle of dignity, with 600 prosthetic limbs being donated as a grant from the Indian government. This initiative is being fully coordinated between the Ministry and relevant security forces (the Armed Forces, the Police, and the General Intelligence Service). The meeting also discussed the technical and logistical arrangements for receiving the Indian delegation, which will be assisted by the Advisory Council for Rehabilitation Medicine and Physical Therapy at the Federal Ministry of Health.

For his part, the Indian Chargé d’Affaires expressed his gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Health for its cooperation and coordination, affirming his country’s readiness to provide further support in the health sector to enhance the stability of medical services in Sudan.
