Editorial: A Clear Roadmap

The government briefed political forces on its engagement with the international community and the roadmap it has proposed for achieving peace and stability, in addition to its position on international initiatives and the ongoing communications.

In his recent press conference, Foreign Minister, provided a comprehensive briefing on political, military, and humanitarian developments, reiterating the government’s commitment to the outcomes of the Jeddah Platform and the roadmap submitted to the United Nations.

The Minister clarified Sudan’s position on regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the war, emphasizing the rejection of any initiative that bypasses the Sudanese people.

He considered the portrayal of the army as a political entity to be a distortion of reality and an attack on a national institution.

He stated that the government adhered to the Jeddah Platform, while the militia responded with intransigence.

The Minister revealed the government’s vision which is based on several key principles, most notably: the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, rejection of attempts at partition, support for constitutional institutions, protection of civilians and ensuring the delivery of aid, and a Sudanese-led solution without external interference, besides the need for the militias to withdraw from occupied cities before any ceasefire arrangements are made.

In the press conference the minister affirmed the unity of the regular forces, the delivery of aid, the lifting of the siege on Kordofan cities, the protection of civilians, the designation of the rebel militia as a terrorist group, and a firm stance against foreign mercenaries.

He also highlighted the state’s efforts to restore services, organize the return of citizens, clear landmines, and address the needs of internally displaced persons and returnees.

For their part, representatives of political forces commended the government’s initiative to inform the public about international efforts related to initiatives and efforts to end the war. They called for the continuation of this approach and the expansion of public awareness campaigns to include community groups, local administrations, and Sufi orders. Those present unanimously agreed on the necessity of unity and a cohesive home front to confront targeting and attempts to undermine the state.
