Al-Burhan: The Sudanese People Will Return to Lead the World’s Path

Head of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, said that the Sudanese people “cannot be defeated,” emphasizing their ability Sudan will remain steadfast in its resilience despite the challenges and setbacks it has faced throughout its history.

Al-Burhan’s remarks came in a televised address coinciding with Sudan’s 70th Independence Day celebrations, under the slogan “And tomorrow we will return… We will surely return.” He linked the present to the past, noting that the historical experiences of the Sudanese people reflect the depth of Sudanese civilization and its enduring presence in the national memory.

He indicated that Sudan, despite the current circumstances, possesses the elements of resilience and the ability to overcome crises, emphasizing that the Sudanese people have always been capable of rebuilding their state and restoring their influential role.

This address comes days after Al-Burhan’s statements on December 27, in which he affirmed that Sudan would not accept any truce or ceasefire as long as the Rapid Support Forces remained present in any part of the country, stressing that the armed forces relied on their own capabilities to quell the rebellion.

During a meeting with a number of Sudanese and Turkish figures at the Sudanese Embassy in Ankara, Burhan explained that there are efforts to involve Turkey and Saudi Arabia in persuading the United States to deal with the Sudanese peace initiative, while stressing that Sudan is “not weak” and is capable of facing various challenges.
