The workshop on Supporting Productive Groups continued for the second day in Sharq Alneel Locality, Khartoum State, at Bin Rushd School for Girls, targeting 90 women to enhance their resilience, face challenges, fight poverty, and improve their economic situation, from December 16 to 18, 2025.
In his press statements, Ibrahim Hassan, a UNDP-certified trainer in the formation of cooperative societies and entrepreneurship, said that this program is related to the formation of cooperative societies and targets 90 women in East Nile.
He pointed out that the training period is three days, during which women were introduced to the concept of cooperative societies and how to establish, manage, and structure a cooperative society, raise funds, and manage money , as well as form projects within cooperative societies of various kinds, whether they are multi-purpose, agricultural association, commercial cooperative society, cooperative society working in marketing products, or productive cooperative societies.
He said they will be trained on how to set up a cooperative to be a leader in business and develop the economic situation of communities suffering from the conditions in Khartoum due to the lack of job opportunities.
Ibrahim added that associations that are established properly and whose formation is correct can accommodate the largest number of people, provide them with job opportunities and investment opportunities, and help in the development of local production and state production.
He pointed out that the great goal is to create job opportunities through the formation of cooperative societies and to continue supervising and supporting them so that we can provide all the aids that help women in developing themselves through training, rehabilitation, and education via cooperative societies.
He said that the big goal is that if this experiment is successful, we can develop it and reflect it on the rest of the municipalities and states so that all of Sudan can benefit from this program.
Ibrahim expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United Nations Development Program for its support of the training programs and to the Sadaqaat charity organization, the main partner of the UNDP.
