A Training Course on “Fundamentals of Humanitarian Journalism” Concludes

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society – Khartoum State Branch, at its headquarters in Karri locality, concluded, on Tuesday, the training course entitled “Fundamentals of Humanitarian Journalism in Application to Covering the Activities of the Sudanese Red Crescent,” which was inaugurated by the Secretary-General of the Society, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb Suleiman, and under the auspices of the Director of the Branch, Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Ali.

The course lasted for three days, with the participation of a number of journalists and media officials at the Red Crescent offices in the localities of the state, and aimed to promote the concepts of humanitarian journalism and adherence to the basic principles of the international movement during media coverage.

The course included three main lectures, the first lecture entitled “Spreading the Culture of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society”, while the member of the Executive Office, Khalifa Abdel Mahmoud, presented the second lecture entitled “Visual Identity and the Prohibitions of Publication in Commitment to the Principle of Neutrality”, while the Director of the Branch, Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Ali, presented the concluding lecture entitled “International Humanitarian Law in Implementation of the Work of Volunteers during Wars”.

The Director of Volunteer Development at the Khartoum State Branch, Hamed Kassamallah, addressed the participants, welcoming the journalists as qualitative volunteers and appreciating their role in covering the activities of the association, especially during the war period in Khartoum State. He stressed the importance of media partnership in conveying the humanitarian message.
