12 Tons of Spoiled Food Destroyed in Khartoum

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO), Khartoum branch, destroyed 12 tons of spoiled and expired food as part of its ongoing campaigns to ensure food safety. This was done in cooperation and coordination with the Supply Investigations Department, the Consumer Protection Association, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Economic Security Authority, Military Intelligence, and other relevant bodies.

Sulafa Abdel Aziz, Director of the Omdurman Unit at the SSMO, confirmed that the destroyed items included oils, chocolates, children’s chips, soft drinks, olives, tahini, and various other products. She stated that these items were collected between July and December of this year to ensure food safety and protect consumers from spoiled and expired products.

The Director of the Khartoum branch, Dr. Ali Al-Tamassini urged citizens to report any suspicious or expired products via the number 5960.
