US Report Accuses RSF of Trying to Cover Up Evidence of Their Crimes in El Fasher

The Yale Laboratory, which monitors events and fighting in Darfur, published a report on Tuesday titled “Disposal of Bodies and Mass Killings in El Fasher Under Rapid Support Forces Control.” The report accuses the Rapid Support Forces and their affiliated militias of deliberately digging mass graves, either because they are still committing killings and genocide, or because – having finished the killings – they are now trying to conceal evidence of their crimes in and around El Fasher.
The report relied on a comparison of the shapes, sizes, and areas of old cemeteries and their surroundings, the areas near the sand berms erected by the militias before and after their entry into El Fasher, soil characteristics, satellite imagery, eyewitness and organization testimonies, and the use of a specific type of large vehicle for transporting bodies and also for smuggling looted goods from El Fasher to Nyala.
