The training course on international and regional human rights mechanisms concludes
Port Sudan – Dr. Abdulaziz Marsal (Shiddo), Minister of Finance, Sustainable Development, and Manpower of the Darfur Regional Government, addressed the closing session of the advanced training course on international and regional human rights mechanisms.
The course, organized by the African Centre for Governance, Peace, and Transition Studies,(AcoCaps) was held at the Martyrs’ Hall in the Port Sudan Sea Ports Corporation.
The two-day course saw wide participation from specialists, representatives of state institutions and civil society, and experts.
The Minister called on participants to uphold their professional and ethical responsibilities by utilizing the knowledge they gained within their respective institutions, emphasizing that this would contribute to strengthening the rule of law and achieving justice for all citizens. He stressed the importance of adhering to transparency, transitional justice, and respect for human dignity.
He also emphasized the need to work towards achieving justice for all victims of human rights violations.
The course featured high-quality lectures delivered by regional experts, including Kamal al-Din al-Dandrawi and Dr. Talha Mustafa Mohamed, Commissioners of the National Human Rights Commission, judge Yasser Sayed Ahmed, Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Justice, and Ambassador Essam Abdelrahman, Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The lectures focused on strengthening the readiness of national institutions to engage with UN, African, and Arab mechanisms, and on developing a system for monitoring, documentation, and accountability.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Mahmoud Zein El Abidine Mahmoud, Director General of AcoCaps, stated:
“The sessions of this course have confirmed that strengthening and enhancing capacities in the field of human rights in Sudan is an urgent necessity imposed by the challenges and the grave and systematic violations perpetrated by the rebel militia. What you have gained here represents a significant addition to your efforts in your workplaces and communities, and we are all working to promote human rights as a path to stability and sustainable development in Sudan.”
