Strong Statement from the Muslim World League in Saudi Arabia Regarding Sudan

The Muslim World League in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its deep concern and sorrow regarding the shocking UN reports on the catastrophic humanitarian situation and the famine affecting areas in Sudan following the Rapid Support Forces’ takeover of El Fasher.

In a statement issued by the League’s General Secretariat, His Excellency the Secretary-General, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, said: “Famine is occurring in Sudan now, before the eyes of the international community, for the second time in less than a year, as declared by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) in the cities of El Fasher and Kadugli.”

He emphasized that this declaration is an urgent and pressing appeal to the international community, to intensify efforts to save the Sudanese people, and to take decisive and immediate action against all the horrific violations and abuses committed against civilians, holding those responsible accountable, and compelling criminal elements to fully comply with the principles of international humanitarian law and the provisions of the Jeddah Declaration on the Protection of Civilians, and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

He concluded by saying, “May God hasten the relief of our brothers in Sudan and disgrace every sinful aggressor.”
