Response Campaign to the Diphtheria Epidemic in Karri Local Government

The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State announced the launch of the Diphtheria Epidemic Response Campaign in Karri locality, from 22 to 27 November 2025, as part of efforts to limit the spread of the disease and enhance the protection of the most vulnerable communities.
The campaign targets the age group from 5 to 20 years old, through vaccination centers spread in health centers, schools and universities, in addition to fixed, temporary and mobile teams that work to reach all segments within the locality.
Dr. Hassan Bashir, Director of the General Directorate of Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, stressed that vaccination is the first line of defense to prevent diphtheria, calling on families to be keen to take their children to the campaign sites during the specified period, to enhance their health and the safety of the community.
This campaign is part of the Ministry’s plan to respond quickly, combat epidemics, and provide preventive health services in various localities of the state.
