Idris in Official and Personal Visit to Switzerland 

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris departed for Switzerland approximately two weeks ago on a visit that combined official and personal aspects. He engaged in official meetings with European envoys and international organizations to discuss the humanitarian crisis resulting from the war of aggression waged by the rebel militia. He also undertook a medical check-up and attended to family matters.

Dr. Idris had arrived in Sudan last May and immediately resumed managing government affairs without taking a single weekly day off. This led to him recently suffering a health setback during a visit to Saudi Arabia. Switzerland is his previous place of residence, making this current visit an opportunity for a short rest and routine medical check-ups.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to Khartoum within the next few days to resume his official duties before undertaking another official visit to an Arab country.

Idris held numerous meetings with officials in Switzerland, envoys from various European countries, and humanitarian organizations, with the aim of facilitating the delivery of aid to displaced persons and attracting support for development projects in the country.

The Prime Minister is monitoring the government’s work daily from Switzerland via electronic communication, closely following the performance of ministers’ assigned tasks. This reflects his full commitment to his responsibilities despite his temporary absence.

It is worth noting that Idris’s government faces internal economic and political challenges amidst the ongoing war waged by the militia against Sudan. The Sudanese people have high expectations for the government, particularly regarding stability, the return of normalcy, and the restoration of essential services (electricity, water, hospitals, and security) to the capital and the cities and regions where the militia has been defeated by the armed forces.
