Free train transport for the Voluntary Return Project ends next December

The committee overseeing the Voluntary Return Project for Sudanese nationals in Egypt, affiliated with the Defense Industries System, announced the end of the free train transport program for Sudanese citizens returning to their country by the end of next December.

In a press statement today (Wednesday), the committee indicated that there are different arrangements for next year regarding the Voluntary Return Project, which will be discussed by the relevant authorities within the system.

The committee urged Sudanese citizens who have registered but have not yet departed to fully comply with the regulations set by the project committee regarding luggage. It also revealed that three trucks will be provided for luggage from Aswan to Halfa, in addition to three more from Halfa to their final destination in Sudan.ش

The committee clarified that train trips will now be weekly, every Saturday instead of Wednesday, noting that the number of passengers who departed on today’s train, number (34), reached (1250) people, in 12 carriages.

The Defense Industries System launched the free voluntary return project for Sudanese citizens last April, initially using buses from Abdeen Station in Cairo, and later transitioning to train transportation in coordination with the Egyptian National Railways.

The project has contributed to the return of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese families and government employees to their cities and villages in various Sudanese states, such as Khartoum, Gezira, Sennar, Gedaref, and others, thus helping to normalize life in those states.
