Digitization of Blood Transfusion Services: A Paradigm Shift in Sudan

The National Program for Blood Transfusion Services at the Federal Ministry of Health announced the completion of the digitization of blood transfusion services in the Red Sea and Gedaref states, as part of a comprehensive project aimed at digitizing blood transfusion services in all states of Sudan.
The Director of the National Program, Dr. Essam El-Din Hassan, explained that the digital transformation in this field represents an important step to raise the level of safety and quality, improve performance, and reduce errors, in addition to providing more reliable and faster health services.
He also pointed out that the project will contribute to improving the management of blood stores and facilitating services for donors, as well as raising work efficiency, reducing costs, and achieving integration between health systems.
It is noteworthy that the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham inaugurated the first phase of the project on August 18, 2025 in Port Sudan, stressing the Ministry’s continued support for this vital national project and the importance of digital transformation in the development of health services.
