Chaired by Burhan – Security and Defense Council Holds Emergency Meeting in Khartoum State
The Security and Defense Council held an emergency meeting yesterday in Khartoum State, chaired by Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, with all members of the Council in attendance.
Defense Minister Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kabroun stated in a press release that the meeting discussed the security situation in the country.
The Council commended the Sudanese people and their sacrifices and offered condolences for the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity, affirming its support for the families of the martyrs, prisoners, and missing persons.
The Security and Defense Council reviewed the necessary arrangements to prevent a recurrence of the tragedy in El Fasher and addressed the violations committed by the Dagalo militia.
The political, military, and security situation on all fronts of the fighting in Sudan was also reviewed.
The Minister explained that the Council addressed the events in El Fasher and the grave and unprecedented violations committed by the Dagalo militia against civilians, which have been condemned by the international community. He pointed to the inaction of international institutions in following up on the implementation of their resolutions to halt the supply of weapons to Darfur and lift the siege of El Fasher.
The Minister of Defense stated that the Council also discussed the humanitarian situation in the country, security threats, and preparations for current and future operations.
He also addressed the initiatives presented by some countries and friendly nations. He added that the Security and Defense Council welcomed the sincere efforts calling for an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people caused by the rebel militia.
The Council expressed its gratitude to the United States government and to the US President’s advisor, Mussad Boulos, for their appreciated efforts, and welcomed any effort that contributes to ending the suffering of the Sudanese people.
The Council resolved to mobilize the Sudanese people to support the armed forces in eliminating the rebel militia within the framework of general mobilization and the state’s efforts to end this rebellion. The Sudanese government presented its vision for facilitating humanitarian access, supporting humanitarian work, and restoring security and peace throughout Sudan. A committee was tasked with preparing this vision.
