Sudan Participates in the Second Session of the Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council in Saudi Arabia
Sudan recently participated with a high-level delegation headed by Engineer Ahmed Dirdiri Ghandour, Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, in the second session of the Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is a continuation of Sudan’s path towards establishing an integrated and secure digital environment.
In a press statement, Engineer Dirdiri said, “We discussed ways to enhance data exchange and regional cooperation to confront cyber threats, and to raise the level of collective preparedness to protect the Arab digital space.”
He added, “We also participated in the fifth edition of the International Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, which brings together governments, the private sector, and international organizations to chart the course for a more secure global digital system.”
The Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications explained that during the forum, the Global Cyber Capacity Building Initiative was launched in partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations. Sudan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its cyber capabilities by investing in training and building a digital infrastructure that contributes to protecting individuals and institutions and supporting national digital stability.
He added, “During the forum, we reviewed Sudan’s recent efforts in supporting Arab and international initiatives, particularly those concerned with child protection and women’s empowerment in cyberspace, affirming our vision for a fair and safe digital environment for all.”
He revealed the approval of the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Authority by a decision of the Council of Ministers, explaining that it will be officially announced during an upcoming press conference as one of the pillars of the new institutional structure of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications in Sudan.
