SSMO Launches National Consumer Awareness Campaign in Khartoum State

As part of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization’s celebrations of World Standards Day, the event kicked off this morning from Ahmed Bashir Al-Abbadi School in Omdurman, with a large attendance of primary and middle school students, led by school principals, teachers, and student activity supervisors from Omdurman. The standards activities touched every door, led by Dr. Ali Al-Tamasini Hamad, Director of the Khartoum State Branch of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization, and attended by Ms. Sulafa Abdel Aziz, Director of the Greater Omdurman Unit at the branch. The national campaign to raise awareness and protect consumers focused on young consumers.
The Ebhar Culture and Arts Troupe presented theatrical and puppet shows in the fields of consumer culture, quality, and specifications. These performances included awareness and educational messages covering expiration dates, display, storage, and handling of goods, especially food, as well as environmental protection and sanitation.
The celebration was addressed by Dr. Al-Tamasini announced that this year’s celebration of World Standards Day falls under the theme “Standards for Sustainable Development Goals.” He emphasized that the goal of sustainable development is the well-being of current and future generations by providing goods, services, and infrastructure with international standards that ensure the safety, security, and quality of what is offered to consumers, meeting their needs and preserving their gains.
Al-Tamasini said that they are focusing on raising awareness and educating young consumers through schools to educate them on the principles of quality and provide them with information that enables them to protect themselves, their families, and ultimately society. He called on students and teachers to be messengers for spreading the culture of consumption, quality, and standards, considering that the education sector is the most widespread and most qualified to influence society. He urged them to pay attention to the health of the school, home, and neighborhood environments for a healthy and sound society. He also emphasized that the Authority is a key partner with the Ministry of Education in building competent, effective generations prepared to lead positive, preventative, and productive change for a proud and proud nation.
The theatrical performances received a great response and interaction from students and teachers.
