South Sudan Army Commander Relieved

South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a decree dismissing General Dau Atuurjong from his positioned as Commander of the South Sudan Defense Forces.

The presidential decree was broadcast on state television Wednesday evening.

General Dau was appointed to this position in July.

The decree stipulated the appointment of General Paul Nang Majok as the new Army Commander, replacing the dismissed Dau.
