Federal Health: Preparation of a Guide to Communicate with the Community in Health Emergencies

The Federal Ministry of Health, represented by the Health Promotion Department and the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), has initiated the preparation of a guide on risk communication and community engagement in health emergencies in Sudan, with the support of the Middle East Community Health Network.

Ismail Al-Adani, the Director of the General Directorate of Basic Health Care, confirmed in the enlightening workshop on the guide to communication during risks and mobilizing the community on Wednesday that the war period witnessed work in the spirit of one team between strengthening and immunization, which contributed to major breakthroughs in favor of public health and children in particular. He noted that the guide is a fruit of joint work and an extension of it at the federal and state levels, adding that community involvement is an important issue. He then added, “Together, we achieve successes that are in the interest of citizens and their health.”

The Director of Health Promotion, Dr. Naha Salheen, said that the conditions that Sudan is experiencing as a result of the war, and currently floods, rains and epidemics, represent a challenge for communication with communities and access to services, which made the development of the guide inevitable, which contributes to restoring trust and involving the community in policy development, response and prioritization.

Dr. Nada Jaafar, a representative of the Middle East Community Health Network, described the guide as an important step, announcing a commitment to continue support, praising the efforts made.

In addition, the Health Promotion Consultant, Dr. Najwa Yahya, said that the guide is a continuation of previous efforts, and represents a roadmap for everyone, describing what has been done as excellent work.
