Energy Minister Discusses Cooperation in Oil, Electricity, and Reconstruction with Chinese Ambassador

Energy Minister, Engineer Advisor Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed, discussed cooperation with China in the oil and electricity sectors, as well as the reconstruction of war-torn areas through the return of Chinese companies to the country.

This came during a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Sudan in his office, in the presence of several ministry leaders and embassy staff.

The meeting addressed the history and development of Sudanese-Chinese relations, their continuation despite security challenges and financial conflicts, and the willingness of Chinese companies to provide Sudan with the necessary resources at this stage to expedite reconstruction.

Both sides agreed to exchange visits and follow up on the outcomes of previous visits.

Minister of Energy, Engineer Advisor Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed, affirmed the continuation of joint cooperation with China in the oil and electricity sectors, as well as the reconstruction of the country, noting the importance of cooperation with China in capacity building and training in technical, engineering, and administrative fields.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador affirmed Sudan’s sovereignty over its territory and unity, wishing Sudan stability and affirming the continuation of Sudanese-Chinese relations in the field of energy and electricity despite the challenges. He emphasized that debts will not stand in the way of implementing Chinese projects in Sudan and that China will continue to support Sudan and stand by it. He said, “We believe that the combined efforts of the Sudanese people will restore the situation in the country to normal as soon as possible.”
