Energy Minister and Turkish Ambassador Discuss Cooperation in Energy and Oil Facilities

Energy Minister Counselor Moatasem Ibrahim discussed with the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan Fatih Weldez arrangements for the minister’s visit to Turkey early this week. The Minister of Energy will depart for Turkey tomorrow and is expected to meet with a number of Turkish companies during the visit, including the Turkish company PGN, which operates in the energy, storage, and petroleum products sectors.

The Energy Minister stated that as part of the arrangements for reconstruction and the return to Khartoum State, we are working to provide electricity, welcoming cooperation with Turkey in the oil and electricity sectors and opening the doors to Turkish investors in both sectors. He also pointed to the Port Sudan refinery being offered for commercial investment.

For his part, the Turkish Ambassador presented a proposal to build a gas storage facility in Suakin, noting the depth of Sudanese-Turkish relations and emphasizing the need to remove obstacles to the exchange of visits and technical delegations between the two countries, particularly in the energy and petroleum derivatives sectors.
