Egypt Pushes for Ceasefire in Sudan

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed, during his participation in the Egyptian-European Summit held in Brussels, that Egypt is determined to continue its tireless efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Sudan, within the framework of its regional role and historical responsibility towards the Sudanese people.

El-Sisi said that his country is coordinating intensively with regional and international parties, most notably the Quartet Mechanism on Sudan, which includes the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt, in cooperation with the European Union, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive humanitarian truce that will contribute to ending the suffering of Sudanese civilians.

The Egyptian President stressed the importance of preserving Sudan’s unity and the integrity of its institutions, and preventing it from slipping into chaos or division. He affirmed that Cairo will continue to support any international efforts aimed at achieving stability and peace in the country.
