The President of the Red Sea University Meets with the National Women’s Group

The Rector of the Red Sea University, Prof. Abdulgader Badawi Mohamed, discussed in a meeting in his office this morning with the Sudanese National Women’s Group, headed by Dr. Sarah Makki Abu, ways of joint cooperation between the university and the group, in the presence of Dr. Mariam Anwar, Director of the Center for Women, Family, and Child Studies, and the Executive Office of the Group.

Prof. Abdulgader Badawi, Rector of the University, stressed that women have always played important roles at the family and societal levels, emphasizing that the initiative and its goals come at a time when such initiatives are needed and are mostly in line with the university’s goals in supporting and empowering women.

These goals have crystallized in the form of programs and activities implemented by the Center for Women and Children’s Studies, the Center for Peace, and the College of Community Development, and he stressed their importance support for the partnership between the group and the center.

Dr. Maryam Ali Onwar reviewed the role of the center and the current partnership, one of the fruits of which was participation in the last workshop, where the center presented a paper on the role of women in reconstruction. She stated that the center is ready to frame the partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding with the group.

Dr. Sarah Makki Abu explained that the group aims to contribute to post-war reform based on scientific foundations and the reform of souls, indicating that it is an atypical group that will work on methodology, thought, and school curriculum. She stressed the need to document Sudanese customs and traditions in one volume, as this is at the heart of the role of scientific research in universities.

The attendees agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Women’s Center at the university and the group to serve as a roadmap for joint scientific work.
