The Higher Academy for Strategic and Security Studies Organizes the Cybersecurity Forum

The Jerash Hall, at the Nile Valley University in Atbara, hosted the Cybersecurity Forum, organized by the Higher Academy for Strategic and Security Studies in cooperation with Nile Valley University.
The forum was sponsored and honored by Dr. Mohamed El-Badawi Abdel-Majid, Governor of River Nile State; Mustafa Mohamed Osmant El-Sharif, Minister of Culture and Information; Osman Amara, Minister of Production; Ms. Hawa Idris, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; representatives of the Artillery Corps and State Police Command; and a number of deans and faculty members from Nile Valley University, along with leaders from the Academy of Strategic and Security Studies.
Addressing the opening session, Dr. Mohamed El-Badawi Abu Qurun, Governor of the State, stated that cybersecurity has become a requirement for preparing a force to protect the country from any breaches. He added that the preparation of the force was in the form of a command in the Holy Quran, so that there is no excuse for preparing physical, scientific, technical, or technological forces, given the country’s ongoing plots aimed at tearing it apart.
Professor Hassan El-Sa’im, Vice-Chancellor of the University; and Dr. Abdul Rahman Ahmed Kafeel, Director of the Academy, highlighted the importance of this cooperation in building national capacities and raising community awareness of information security in light of escalating cybersecurity challenges.
Professor Al-Sa’im stated that the university will continue to hold seminars, training courses, and lectures that highlight the pros and cons of cybersecurity, as well as its application to the well-being of humanity and the advancement of the country.
The event featured the presentation of several specialized scientific papers, most notably a lecture by Dr. Arqam Al-Rayeh Al-Sanhouri, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Khartoum, in which he addressed the risks of using computers and smartphones.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Fateh Al-Jili, a lecturer at the Academy, discussed ways to prevent cyber threats, especially those related to networks and communication devices. The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to periodically and rapidly raise security awareness among institutions, public agencies, and all segments of society, besides activating the preventive role in securing networks, and protecting individuals and institutions from infiltration, blackmail, or breaches.
It also recommended the necessity of qualifying specialized cadres to deal with security threats, especially in light of the unsafe use of mobile devices and networks, in addition to adopting clear policies to protect individuals and institutions.
At the end of the program, certificates were distributed to the students.
