The governor of West Darfur mourns the martyr Commander Ahmed Abdul Karim Abakar (Karnouf)

With great sadness and sorrow, the Governor of West Darfur, General Bahr al-Din Adam Karama, mourned the martyrdom of the heroic fighting Commander Ahmed Abdul Karim Abkar Abdul Banat (Karnouf), who rose to martyrdom in El Fasher while defending his homeland and people as commander of the joint forces of the Sudanese coalition, thus fulfilling his dream of joining his great commander, General Khamis Abdullah Abkar, the former governor of West Darfur and the head of the Sudanese coalition.

“Darfur and the national forces have lost an outstanding leader, a symbol of courage and redemption, who gave his pure soul in defense of the dignity of the homeland and the protection of civilians,” the Governor of West Darfur said in limited press statements. “The blood of the martyr will not go to waste, and the path he took will remain a beacon for generations towards victory, liberation and the lifting of the siege on our people in Darfur.”

The governor added that the martyr was one of the first participants in the revolution in Darfur state, worked within the United Nations African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) for a ceasefire, participated in the security arrangements file for the Juba Peace Agreement, and was an active member of the Juba Peace Ceasefire Committee, stressing that his sacrifices will remain engraved in the memory of the country.
