Sudan Reveals UAE Involvement in Recruiting Colombian Mercenaries: New and Serious Evidence

Reports revealed that the Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations filed a new, evidence-based complaint on Friday regarding the UAE’s involvement in recruiting Colombian mercenaries and sending them to kill Sudanese.

The Sudanese government has made serious accusations against the UAE, accusing it of direct interference in the ongoing war in Sudan by recruiting, financing, and deploying foreign mercenaries, including hundreds of retired Colombian soldiers, to support the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia.

The accusations, documented in an official letter sent yesterday by Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris Al-Harith, to the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, highlight Abu Dhabi’s role as a “diabolical architect” of the exacerbation and prolongation of the conflict.

According to documents provided by Sudanese authorities, between 350 and 380 Colombian mercenaries, most of them retired soldiers and officers from the Colombian army, were recruited through private security companies based in the UAE.
