Ibrahim Jaber, Governor of Khartoum State and Federal Minister of Health inaugurate a children’s hospital at the Salam Italian Hospital

The Salam Centre for Cardiac Surgery in Soba witnessed a high-level official visit that included a member of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Marine Engineer Advisor Ibrahim Jaber, the Governor of Khartoum State, Mr. Ahmed Osman Hamza, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, along with a number of leaders from the Federal Ministry of Health, on the occasion of the inauguration of a specialized department for pediatrics.

The Federal Minister of Health stressed the importance of the role played by the Italian Emergency Organization in providing free medical services in Sudan for more than twenty years, noting that this partnership represents a bridge for peace and communication between peoples. He also explained that the hospital provides its services in several Sudanese cities, including Shendi, Kosti, Gedaref, Madani, Port Sudan, Nyala, and Atbara, which enhances the spread of free health services throughout the country.

The Minister pointed out that the hospital continued its work during the war period, as more than 18 thousand children were treated during the war period, as it provides treatment, diagnosis, basic care, nutrition and immunization services, while continuing to provide heart surgeries and follow-up of heart patients, and today a specialized pediatric department is opened free of charge for the urgent needs in the Soba area and south of Khartoum.
He also spoke about future plans to expand the scope of medical services and establish new centers, stressing the ministry’s commitment to overcoming the obstacles facing the organization’s work.

The Governor of Khartoum State, expressed his happiness with this achievement, praising the hospital staff and announcing projects to improve the surrounding environment, including the establishment of a rest room for companions and the improvement of infrastructure such as electricity and roads leading to the hospital, thanking Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber for his interest in creating a suitable healthy environment in the state.
