The Sudanese Coalition for Education for All graduates displaced women in vocational fields

The Red Sea State, Port Sudan, witnessed the graduation of 500 displaced women, along with a number of women from the local community, after training them in various fields, including soap making, leather industries, sewing, embroidery, food industry, and shell industry. This program was organized under the auspices of the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Guidance and the Ministry of Social Development in the state.
In his speech during the ceremony, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Mr. Mutassim Ahmed Saleh, announced his support for the Women’s Education Center in Port Sudan with an amount of one million pounds, stressing that the Government of Hope seeks to fight poverty, build capacities, and achieve sustainable development, as the real way out of the current situation that the country is going through.
The Minister thanked the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All and all partners from the United Nations and the Japanese government, stressing the government’s support for this trend in training, rehabilitation, and raising competencies, especially for women and vulnerable communities. “We encourage and support partnerships with local and international organizations to expand the circle of knowledge, spread science, and develop capabilities,” he added, emphasizing his ministry’s full support for female graduates.
The Minister also directed the competent authorities in the Ministry of Social Welfare, including the Zakat Bureau, the Social Solidarity and Security Commission, Poverty Reduction Programs, the Savings Bank, and the Family Bank, to facilitate and provide microfinance for female graduates and to simplify procedures in various fields. He pointed out that the ministry will open a special window for submitting funding applications to enable female graduates to continue their journey in life.
Representative of the Governor of the Red Sea State, Ilham Idris, stressed that women’s training represents a real addition to economic empowerment, contributes to raising the standard of living of women, and enhances their contribution to the national income, pointing out her full readiness to provide the necessary funding in this field.
Amal Al-Badawi, representative of the Council of Ministers, stressed the importance of training women and raising their capacities for the advancement of society, emphasizing the need to generalize women’s training and pay attention to technical and vocational education as a means to get Sudan out of its current crises.
Taqi Abbas, President of the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, explained that the acquisition of life skills represents effective tools to empower women and enhance their participation in the renaissance of Sudan and achieve sustainable development.
Dr. Nagi Mansour, Director General of the Coalition, also reviewed the activities and programs of the Coalition in the field of women’s education, including the provision of cooking equipment, the formation of women’s associations in the Red Sea and Gedaref states, and the establishment of 15 alternative education centers in the city of Port Sudan. He called for the need to establish a portfolio to finance women’s projects in Sudan’s safe states.
At the end of the ceremony, the representative of UN Women, Salvatore, expressed his pride in the training programs for women in Sudan, which aim to enable them to regain their normal life after the war, praising the efforts of all parties supporting these initiatives.
