Minister of Higher Education Inaugurates the Return of the Student Welfare Fund to its Headquarters in Khartoum

The National Fund for Student Welfare announced its return to operations from its main headquarters in Khartoum State. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa, chaired the first meeting of the Fund’s General Secretariat from within its headquarters. The meeting was attended by Secretary-General Dr. Ahmed Hamza Al-Amin and Professor Al-Tayeb Ali Ahmed, vice-Chancellor of El Geneina University. Professor Mudawi emphasized that the Student Welfare Fund represents a fundamental pillar in ensuring the stability of the educational process, noting that stable student housing means stable classrooms. He praised the ambitious efforts and plans he witnessed during the visit, explaining that they are achievable on the ground. He also valued the Fund’s support for the Ministry in building a sound education system capable of competing internationally. He affirmed his ministry’s commitment to removing all obstacles hindering the Fund’s implementation of its future projects.

For his part, the Fund’s Secretary-General, Dr. Ahmed Hamza Al-Amin, explained that the Fund’s return to its headquarters in Khartoum does not merely represent a resumption of administrative activity, but rather the beginning of a comprehensive reconstruction phase for student dormitories. He revealed the return of female students to the Martyr Ali Abdel Fattah City and a number of other dormitories in Khartoum in recent days, stressing that coordination with universities will contribute to the smooth resumption of the educational process. He also announced the launch of reconstruction convoys next September to support ongoing efforts to restore life to the capital.

In the same context, Professor Al-Tayeb Ali Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of El Geneina University, praised the Fund’s significant role in preparing student housing, noting that its return to its main headquarters in Khartoum represents a strong impetus for continued cooperation with higher education institutions and the completion of the reconstruction process, ensuring that students can continue their academic careers despite the challenges imposed by the war.
