Minawi Announces His Position on Al-Burhan’s Decision

Head of the Sudan Liberation Movement and General Supervisor of the Joint Forces,
Minni Arko Minnawi, welcomed the decision issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, subjecting all combat military formations to the Sudanese Armed Forces Law, saying briefly: “There is nothing wrong with it.”

The decision covers all combat forces.

The spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, Al-Sadig Ali Al-Nur, explained that the decision covers all military formations that participated in the “Dignity War” based on the general alert. He indicated that the joint forces are actually operating under the command of the armed forces according to security protocols that have not yet been finalized.

Minawi: Implementing Security Arrangements is an Urgent Priority

Minnawi stressed that the decision requires immediate implementation of the security arrangements stipulated in the 2020 Juba Peace Agreement, emphasizing that the integration process must include the army, police, security services, military institutes and colleges, and all the way up to the high command of the armed forces.

For his part, Justice and Equality Movement spokesman Dr. Mohamed Zakaria said that the move aims to regulate the status of military formations that emerged during the war or that did not participate in the peace agreements. He pointed out that the movements that signed the Juba Agreement explicitly committed to integrating their forces into the Sudanese army in accordance with the security arrangements protocols.

Towards a Unified Army

With this agreement between Minnawi and the armed struggle movements, the country is moving toward a new phase of completing the integration and unification process under the umbrella of the armed forces. This will strengthen the unity of military decision-making and close the door to divisions or multiple centers of power, at a time when the country is facing complex security challenges.
