Khartoum Airport Reopening Date Set

Khartoum Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza announced that Khartoum Airport management has pledged to reopen the airport within just ten days, using the Hajj and Umrah terminal runway, which has been initially rehabilitated. This is an important step that reflects the government’s desire to restore normal life to the national capital after a hiatus of more than two years.

During his inspection visit to the Hajj and Umrah terminal, the governor affirmed that this phase is considered preliminary to the airport’s reopening, with a subsequent review of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the departure and arrival halls and the presidential lounges.

In a related development, Badr Airlines welcomed a new CRJ200 jetliner to its fleet during an official ceremony held at Port Sudan International Airport, attended by state leaders, representatives of the security services, and the Civil Aviation Authority.

Captain Hisham, the company’s CEO representative, said that this aircraft represents a qualitative shift in the company’s operations. He noted that its arrival enhances the company’s ability to fill the gap in the air transport market and meet citizens’ needs, in addition to contributing to connecting Sudanese cities and facilitating internal and external travel.

Hisham added that the company had faced significant losses during the war, including the loss of several of its aircraft and the destruction of its operational assets at Khartoum Airport. However, the arrival of this aircraft reflects Badr Airlines’ determination to move forward with expansion and continue to provide distinguished services.

He added that the company believes in the importance of the aviation sector as a strategic means of supporting social cohesion and facilitating people’s lives, affirming their commitment to continuing to work to overcome challenges and build a better future for this vital sector.
