The governor of West Darfur, Bahr al-Din Adam Karama, accused the UN staff of favoring the displaced people in the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Militia in distributing humanitarian aid at the expense of the refugees in eastern Chad. Karama explained in limited press statements that the IDPs are fully aided, while the refugees receive monthly aid that is not enough for ten days.

Karama categorically rejected discriminatory practices in the provision of humanitarian aid, in which displaced people in areas under the control of rebel militias are preferred at the expense of Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad. He added that these unfair policies represent a flagrant violation of the principles of neutrality and humanitarian equity, and contradict international laws that guarantee the right of all affected people to receive support without any political or regional considerations.

Karama stressed that the refugees in eastern Chad are sons of Sudan, who have been forced to leave their homeland under harsh conditions, and who are entitled to the same level of care and services without derogation.
Karama called on the United Nations to review its staff or hold them accountable for any biased or discriminatory practices, and called on the concerned organizations to assume their full responsibilities towards them.
