Al-Burhan Chairs Security and Defense Council Meeting

The Security and Defense Council held its meeting today, chaired by Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, Head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
In a press statement, the Council saluted the steadfastness of the Sudanese people and those participating in the existential war of dignity. The following is the text of the statement:

The Security and Defense Council met today, August 9, 2025, chaired by Head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The Council saluted the steadfastness of the Sudanese people and those participating in the existential war of dignity.
The meeting reviewed the security and political situation in the country. It discussed the actions of the RSF militia and the so-called Foundation Group in forming a fictitious, paper-based authority in Darfur. The meeting also reviewed the measures taken by the Abu Dhabi government and the precautions required by the Sudanese government.
The meeting affirmed the Sudanese state’s ability to preserve Sudan’s resources and protect its vital interests.
Finally, the meeting reviewed the military situation on various battlefronts.
