A meeting between the Ministry of Health and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

Within the framework of improving the quality of maternal and newborn health services and ensuring the continuity of services during emergencies, a meeting was held at the General Administration of Basic Health Care in Kassala under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Abdallah, Acting Director of the General Directorate of Basic Health Care, with the delegation of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The meeting also included the participation of the Acting Director of Maternal and Child Health, Sister Amal Mahmoud, the Director of the Planning, Follow-up, and Evaluation Section at the Maternal and Child Health Department, as well as the heads and employees of the National Program for Reproductive Health at the Ministry.

Abdallah welcomed the IFAD delegation, headed by Dr. Uqba Abdel Hamid Daghim, Director of Reproductive Health, while the meeting discussed important interventions to reduce maternal mortality, coordination mechanisms and challenges, and the arrival and distribution of supplies throughout the country.

The meeting reviewed the plan of the joint visit to the states of Gedaref and Kassala, to determine the continuity of services and the challenges they face, and then work on developing a plan for an urgent response.
