The Car Import Inventory Committee Discusses Implementation Controls

The Car Import Inventory Committee discussed the implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. (154) regarding car imports and the regulations governing the entry of cars of Sudanese working abroad. In its expanded meeting, chaired by Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, the committee emphasized the need to inventory all car imports that occurred without an import form, emphasizing that no exceptions will be granted to any party violating the resolution. The committee emphasized the government’s commitment to activating the banking regulations governing the resolution to address violations identified during implementation.

The committee also discussed mechanisms for controlling the unloading of pallets that do not meet the requirements for the personal belongings of returning citizens, as stipulated in a previous resolution exempting personal belongings from customs duties.

The committee revealed a move to implement general government directives to regulate vehicle imports and the unloading of goods in accordance with the banking procedures of the Central Bank of Sudan. This is aimed at curbing the increased demand for the dollar and its negative impact on the stability of the national currency and protecting the national economy from its repercussions.

In a separate meeting chaired by Dr. Gibril Ibrahim, the Export Proceeds Committee reassured the deposit of livestock export proceeds for the current year into the main government account at the Central Bank of Sudan during the period from January to date. Compliance with banking and technical procedures for the deposit was emphasized.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Undersecretary of Animal Resources, the Director of Economic Security, and a representative of the Central Bank of Sudan.
