Surveillance report: 101 cases of measles in a week in 8 localities in the country

The meeting of the Federal Emergency Operations Center in its meeting today under the chairmanship of the Federal Ministry of Health in confirmed the significant decline of the cholera epidemic in Khartoum State following the interventions, while the registration is still continuing and monitoring a number of localities in some states, including East Gezira, Belil, Tandalti, Al-Jabalin, Al-Daein, Shikan, announcing the registration of 730 infections, including 6 deaths during the epidemiological week No. 25 from 21 to 27 June.

The surveillance report revealed during the meeting at the center’s headquarters, that 101 cases of measles were recorded in 8 localities in the country in a week, most of them from the localities of Tawila, Tandalti, Abu Hamad, Al-Kamilin Hamra Al-Sheikh, and rural Khashm Al-Qurba, while meningiomeningitis incidence cumulatively 186 infections, including 15 deaths from 7 states, including 64% registered in the state of Gezira.

The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, directed the close follow-up of the situation of returnees from the State of South Sudan, the closure of epidemiological hotspots, especially cholera, and the scheduling of autumn emergency activities.
